No, a very wealthy person would certainly not use a Piper PA-46 Malibu which is only a turboprop aircraft.

A very wealthy person would use a twin jet such as a Gulfstream G range or even better, a Canadian built Bombardier aircraft.

Anyone can afford to fly with a turboprop aircraft but not everyone can say they own a twin jet aircraft.

Usually, those turboprop aircraft have no washrooms while the twinjets do have a dedicated washroom at the back of the aircraft.

If I had the necessary small change, then I would chose a Bombardier Global 8000 with a range of 8000 nautical miles. I am just missing $78 million to close the sale.

To own a plane 78 million you would need to be a billionaire. To own these kind of dual or single propeller aircraft you need to be a multi millionaire for sure. My parents own a small Learjet. It’s the ideal plane I wouldn’t want anything more. They used to own an Cessna 340. The cost of maintenance, inspections and flying is for the very wealthy. I don’t even like the look of those jets you sent me. The ones my parents own/owned are lavish but nice and cosy. The picture of the piper is just a model I’ve flown before as I have a people.

You could also have fractional ownership for a larger jet. It would cost you 25%, provided you have 3 other partners.

Costs to operate and maintain the aircraft, insurance, crew, landing fees and all the others like FBO fees, kerosene, catering etc. will cost you approximately 10% of the value of the aircraft and that every single year.

The same by the way applies for yachts. A purchase price of $30 million for the yacht will end up costing you $3 million additional every single year.

Yes. Planes aren’t cheap. They are toys of people who live a comfortable lifestyle.

I was involved with people who used their plane to help distribute rescue/pound dogs to other areas of the country. Fuel alone is costly, even short distances.

If you were to own that plane yourself, you would definitely need to be worth several million, but planes like this are often co-owned with 2-4 partners who share all the costs. The plane itself is expensive, but the FAA is extremely strict about maintenance, whether the plane flies or not, and maintenance can eat you alive unless you have a good chunk of cash or you are using the plane commercially and it is generating revenue.

It's the same kind of thing. If you are considerably wealthy (not billionarie, but $10M or more), then, sure, you can own one of these and maintain it for your own use - but that's the exception more than the rule. The vast majority of planes in this class are used commercially, either as short-haul passenger planes in remote areas or as cargo/mail carriers in remote areas. A few are used for tourist flights. And a lot of them have been used as drug planes to fly drugs into the US, mostly from South America (Colombia, primarily).

Anyone who knows anything about planes or dealt with them knows how ridiculously expensive it is to own one. Regardless of what kind of plane, just paying taxes and maintenance is worth a house. Not mentioning the fuel and regulations to even fly. The government does not want idiots in the sky, so it is heavily regulated.
