Why does squirrel keep hiding nuts in the dirt of my plants?

A squirrel keep hiding nuts in the dirt of my plants on my balcony and i don't understand why when there's dirt everywhere on the ground? One time he even came inside when i left the balcony door open and was sleeping than i woke up from the noise and being just woken up i didn't know what was happening so i started screaming 😂 He scared me and i scared him. Than i tried to get him outside it took me like 10 minutes to guide him i was so mad because i was hungover too.

It is easier to dig in. He won't remember where he buried the acorns anyway so don't be surprised if an oak tree grows there.
