The correct answer is Sarajevo, where Archduke Franz Ferdinand was assassinated by a Bosnian Serb in 1914. At the time, Sarajevo was in Austria-Hungary. The city hosted the 1984 Winter Olympics, and is now the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

I do not remember the country but I think the country had two princes, one abdicated his throne to a brother that stuttered when he talked due to trauma and low self esteem from an abusive baby sitter when he was a young child. Was it Prussia?

Sarajevo. I remember learning about WWI in school. Gavrilio Princip shot Archiduke Ferdinand as he was riding a car, so Austria decided on vengeance on this Jugoslavian country that Gavrilio was from; I forgot which one.

The Olympic host-clue was the giveaway. The city is Sarajevo but I don't know what country that was in around 1914.

Archduke Ferdinand was killed by a Serbian zealot in Sarajevo around 1912-1914. His wife may have been shot also.

I'm going to guess that the country was called Yugoslavia at the time.
