What are some ways you have dealt with childhood bullies, without laying hands?

How I non violently silenced a BULLY: PART2

…I think Even when kids are in adversarial mode, they like to feel like they are creating something so I was able to capture their attention, plus this really wasn’t _personal_ none of them liked or disliked me they were just “following orders” so all you really need to to is distract them from one direction and point them in other. Mindless following is irritating but it’s malleable)

I explained to the attending ears, each character was based on a classmate and all names were based on their predominant traits, respectively. I went around the table circle.

The first girl to my left whom the other girl also taunted for being “chubby” (she was not) I called her “Bella” bc she was very pretty & her mom did her hair in beautiful arrangements every day. Patience for both of them must have been immense. (I knew calling her pretty would sting bc the bully was extremely vain)

The second girl to my left , I called “crystal” bc of how delicate yet powerful she was. She was very strong. I was super strong and she could almost put arm wrestle me and we both climbed the rope the fastest — tho she was no match for me with “fastest sit ups” 😂 (again “strong” would cut, bc the bully was a dancer but neither graceful nor strong)

To my right, the bullies best friend, I called “Athena” after the goddess of wisdom, bc she was wise. (I suspected their friendship was a fluke and would not last, it didn’t. Incidentally “Athena” was always real nice to me when her other friend wasn’t around so I knew there was potential for her to be legit.)

Soooo as we arrived at the bully, I explained my dilemma was that I couldn’t come up with a name that sounded cool that meant “THE MOST ANNOYING GIRL IN THE WORLD”

Everyone laughed bc it was unexpected & bc they all i iksgineon some level had experienced how irritating she was— she worked hard at it!! The table laughed so hard the lunch aid scolded us. For the remainder of lunch _most_ of us tried to think of a name. I almost felt bad. ALMOST.

I never did choose a name. I wasn’t out to humiliate & it was enough that she had to self reflect for a moment. Then It was recess. I didn’t bring it up next lunch. And that girl never said a word to me.
