i guess it would be possible to write a MS Dos version optimized for modern pcs, however i would also guess every little programm would be written anew for that version of ms dos, starting with drivers for hardware, periphery, every piece of software...

and assuming the market is quite small its a lot of work with little usage.

It should work fine. Though some of the older programs operate off the processor speed; so they run too quickly on newer systems.

if you want to play games, get an emulator

files should be alright if there is compatibility

if you fully want to run MS-DOS, probably can be done but it is a waste
