How do you see gender role?

What do you think when you hear the term "gender roles" .. I always thought we all have the same idea about the traditional "gender role" but it doesn't seem like it.. So what do you think it is and do you agree or disagree and why?

I usually think of "Normal is an illusion. What is normal for the spider is chaos for the fly." that alongside with Black Widows.
Because traditional gender roles are nothing but an illusion created by those who imposed it. When in reality nature shows female and male creatures often switch roles.

I'm not confused about my gender role. Women are all over the map on thiers. I can deal with whatever she decides so long as she's consistent about it. She don't get to change it whenever it's convenient or advantageous for her to do so. 🙂

I agree with you on that and I think it's feminism fault.. But regardless of how things are, what do you think "ideal" gender roles are?

Honestly I really can't answer that. I mean she gives birth... that's not an option obviously. But beyond that it's whatever each gender has to do for the good of the family unit (I'm making assumptions of marriage here because dating is dating. But martiage is a lifetime commitment).
I guess what I'm trying to say is EVERY partnership is unique with thier own dynamics. So naturally thier is no cookie cutter solution. What isn't negotiable is mutual respect and effort. For both genders.

I have 4 sisters none of them are alike. So I get a very good view of thier diversity. The one thing they have in common is they're all committed to thier husband's. And have been married between 17 and 36 years. And most importantly are all still married.

Well said 👍 I agree with most of that.. But I still think the ideal roles is for men to be providers and women peace maker but as you said every partnership has its own dynamics.

And that's cool to think that way. The only problem in the modern world women compete with men for that livelihood. You can't take away a man's ability to provide for her then judge him for not having it. I know you're not doing that specifically, I'm just saying.
My 3rd oldest sister is more educated and makes more than her husband. He ran himself ragged trying to outprofduce her. And all it resulted in was them spending less time together. He works less now but they're a lot happier. At least that's what she tells me. Yep, every situation is different.

As a woman I belong to the 96% tbh... But I notices that most people who are calling for abandoning gender roles are those 4% and 25%..

So now would we make a rule based on the generals or the exceptions?

Acceptable feminine goals and traits trope, exceptions is not the norm I would say.

I think women have every right to pursue their goals and career paths however I feel some roles and sports are better suited for men and women in my view shoudnt be as much in the firing line for.

I don't know, I have more female friends than male most of them are very intelligent and assertive and are sucesful in their own rights. I think women should have the rights to do the exact same as what men can do, however I guess some jobs are for men rather than women.

Yeah I believe so as well.. But what does it mean gender role to you? when you hear it Do you think of a man working and woman cooking or of boys playing with cars and girls with dolls, or men weightlifting and girls doing ballet or what exactly?

Well I see some jobs for men and some jobs for women, so a woman's role is to have light winded jobs like working in a salon, kitchen or bakery and a man's job is in buisness or building.

I guess although I'm kinda a hypocrite as I'm not straight and love my tanning and have previously mainly worked in salons.

I'm asking this because I always thought that all people think the same when we talk about gender roles which is (for me) based on the "responsibility"of each role, but recently I was talking to a friend and she disagreed and her argument was that not all boys like playing with cars and not all girls like playing with dolls so I realized that she see gender roles from "interests" perspective.. That's why I was curious to know if people think of it from different perspectives and if their perspective is really a " gender role "

That's the thing.. I'm the opposite actually😅, I don't do make-up, never done my nails or dyed my hair and I'm not interested in shopping or brands.. But these are only interests, it has nothing to do with my role as a female in society.

I wear foundation each day, because it keeps my tan perfect😆But though I'm not straight I'm very much a man and being 5ft6 i hold my own😂 My role in society is still upheld. But that dosent change the reasoning for roles being in place

I don't see gender roles besides the biological necessities for the sexes regarding birth and breastfeeding, so while the mother does this the husband or wife has to do more other stuff.
