Are gender roles still a thing?

I know traditional roles for men and women always were a thing in the past. I’m wondering if, they’ve diminished with my generation and future ones. My best girl friend is a real tomboy with the baggy, plain clothes and super short hair cut. She likes male activities and thinks and behaves like a stereotypical bloke.

One of my two best guy friends loves artwork, pottery and pretty decorations and cushions, soft toys, cakes, flowers, etc. He’s a sensitive guy who’s in touch with his feelings, like a stereotypical woman. He has long, pretty hair. I think before my generation, people were less comfortable being gender fluid, if that’s the term?

Gender roles still might exist, some people are just gender-nonconforming (more of the word you're looking for). Genderfluid is more of a gender identity that's in the non-binary category. I tend to like how we aren't always gendering things for boys, girls, men, & women. It's actually pretty silly how we'd do that. I know one of my nephews when he was younger liked to pretend to cook food, so my sister got him a kitchen set. One of my younger nephews has a Coco Melon playset with a house & everything-something that would've probably been considered for "girls only" if it came out around my time as a child.

I agree. There’s a bit of a role reversal with a guy I like that likes me. I buy him pretty things, to decorate his room; and he makes me sentimental stuff. He’s creative and I’m practical.

we are lucky to live in times when everyone can choose, how they want to live their lives, without anything set in stone...

Much less than in the past, and look at the state of affairs in modern western society and relations between the sexes. But yes, traditional gender roles still exist. I actually know a lot if families in my community that have more traditional relationships. Unsurprisingly, they tend to be the happiest marriages and have the most well adjusted children.

It seems like there are still a lot of jobs that are dominated by males such as construction, although that seems to be changing as more and more women get into it. From what I understand there are many countries where gender roles are still very defined.

Yes. They both are due an ass whooping for being cretins. Their weak parents failed them, and their non-education has left them mentally underdeveloped.

Obvi there are roles or jobs genders migrate to. Be that upbringing religion etc...

But thyre becoming more blurred
