Would you be able to detect fake remorse?

I've already done this a couple times in my life without really feeling anything in those words. The first time I faked remorse (gave a false apology too) to avoid a school suspension I was 10 years old. I still got suspended but instead of 5 days, I was given 2 days.

Here is the deal:

I can perfectly delivered a heartfelt apology without ''if, buts'' nor other excuses. I can show remorse and even work on the tears too. However, they're all empty words likely from years of mimicking. I'm not interested in doing anything that would get me in trouble obviously. I just don't feel remorse.

Would you be able to detect someone faking remorse? How good at you at that?

As a kid, obviously I had less self-control (hence why I got suspended once) but it's different as an adult.
