Is it wrong to go by stereotypes?

I had encountered a couple individuals that expected me to act like the stereotype, failing to realize I'm just a person with different beliefs, likes, personality, goals, etc.

Things that took someone by total surprise:

- Finding out I'm atheist and have no problems with premarital sex. Not all of us care about religion nor traditional roles.

- I can't dance at all and that's not my favorite activity either. Not all of us are great dancers.

- Someone expected to be served meal. I only had a couple snacks. My friends and I ordered pizza. Why should I cook for guests (not my obligation)? lol

Someone once got offended by all this and said I'm just a coconut; only brown on the outside (just the appearances) but white deep down. I told him he should stop focusing on stereotypes and treat people as individuals instead.
