i don’t like stereotypes. even the ones that people consider good. especially when it comes to race. The, “all Asians are smart” stereotype, puts a lot of pressure on Asians to live up to that. and ofc there are the bad stereotypes, which i don’t think i need to explain why they are harmful. if u are gonna judge someone, do it based off the person themselves, not everyone fits into stereotypes.

Depends on the stereotype. Some people have nice stereotypes like “Asians are smart” or “Mexicans are hardworking” while others have unfriendly stereotypes like “black people are ghetto and lazy” and other not so nice stereotypes that doesn’t benefit anyone individually

I don't think they are bad unless they are overly focused on or if they are an extremely negative and untrue stereotype. Like the stereotype that mexican people are dirty. Thats harmful and shouldn't be a thing. But other stereotypes might be fine. They shouldn't be relied upon but they are helpful sometimes bc tbh most of the time they are semi true

People like to have some systems in order to deal with new impressions. A way to do this is putting people in boxes based on a few factors/stereotyping.. I guess it is ok at first, and if you don't let people stay in such limited boxes and are open for them to stick out when getting to know them. Especially stay away from judging someone to have negative traits on something that is not directly related to it.

Stereotypes are a way of oversimplifying and generalizing people.

They are kind of bad because sometimes they're lies about an entire race that get passed around and held as truth. It's better to treat people as individuals.

no they aren't. they are condensed experience of generations. they are not always true but more often than not they are. and as such they should neither be ignored or dismissed, nor taken as instructions.
