Arrogance. a lot of people always assume thier only one "right" way only one viewpoint, THIERS! So when they face someone who is equally stubborn rather than consider for a moment they might be wrong, or at least equally wrong. They claim the other person is just "gas lighting" them.

Gaslighting is a derivative world that fell out of the term Narcissist. Narcissism is an outworking of Humanistic Secular Rogerian psychology where the catch phrase is "here and now". From this emerged its expression in the "Selfies Generations".
This much self-love and admiration will manifest itself in a clinical psychology such as Narcissism. These behaviors and the "I'm okay you are okay, everyone gets a trophy, and you're perfect" family raising of children have created Monsters.

Degradation of others while elevating oneself to the extremes of devoid of conscience, right/wrong, and connection (psychopath) and nothing toward society, its institution, or people being sociopath. Narcissism is its own diagnosis but some believe on the continuum as one finishes at socio/psychpathy. Gaslighting is a way to control and for the perpetrator to protect his/her Self schematic worldview.
