Medical gaslighting is when a healthcare provider dismisses your complaints or concerns. They don't seem to take you seriously or blame your symptoms on a vague cause (such as stress). And they may send you home without a proper diagnosis or treatment plan.

The best example I can give is because it has happened to me many times. Example: I had self-diagnosed myself with Ehlers Danlos Syndrome which is a rare congenital connective tissue disease. It affects every body part. I went to see a rheumatologist and I told him I thought that I had EDS he did everything in his power to dissuade me from that conclusion. I left his office thinking well maybe he was right. This doctor cost me 5 years from getting an accurate diagnosis. Medical gaslighting happens to women and people of color more than men.
