I have an aging Boxer mix, mixed with what we really don’t know. He’s a rescue, I acquired him when his owner died.
I also have a Great Dane. We don’t have papers but the vet is pretty sure he’s pure bred. He has many well known Dane characteristics:
- a four-legged wrecking ball with the emotional range of a toddler on espresso.
- plays like he’s auditioning for WWE.
- sometimes sounds like a refrigerator falling downstairs.
He’s a foster fail, working on house manners and coming along nicely.
I’ve never really had my own dog as an adult.
When i was young, my family kept dogs. The only ones i know were of strong breeding, but probably not purebred, were our Great Danes because my dad had the idea to breed them for money.
That did not go as planned, but we loved those dogs anyway. We also had one Basset Hound who looked exactly how you’d expect a pure Basset to look. But what did i know? I was just a kid. I thought all of our farm animals were pets!
My last dog was a Rottweiler 100% her name was Super Buster. . I named her that because they wouldn’t take Buster when I went to register her, It was already taken so I had to add super. I got her at five weeks old. She was very aggressive wrestling down the other dogs I paid for her. she turned out to be 120 pound Rottweiler female. What an awesome dog
No pets now. I previously had cats. Most were just the progeny of neighborhood feline affairs, but i did have a Maine Coon Cat.
I never had a dog, nor a cat, only rabbits, parrots, hamsters, guinea pigs, midget terrapin, and a goldfish.
I had a golden retriever who was not a pure bred. He had some Irish Setter in him too.
I don't own one, but if I did, I would get a pure bred. I feel cross breeding is wrong
Cross breeds tend to be healthier because it smooths out genetic health flaws. If you want a working dog go for pure but for a pet a mongrel is better
Pure bred border collie and a puggle.
The fucks a puggle?
Half pug half beagle
@AviatorTom but without googling can you work out the correct plural of Corgi? Only the most hardened grammar nazi will get it
Oh. I read that as, Pure bread. Border collie and a puggle. That must look hilarious.
I'm guessing it's something weird/random. You know I'm gonna google it right after.
Ceergese?
One of the smartest dogs and one of the dumbest. Quite a couple you got there.
You tricked me. You made me think it's something weird. Though the WELSH plural, I NEVER would've gotten.
We had a border collie right before we got married. Like our boxer mix, I acquired him when his owner died. Like you pointed out, purebreds often come with health problems. He was epileptic and had hip dysplasia. But she was such a sweet dog, and we were crushed when we had to let him go.
Both my dogs are mixed breeds though I've owned pure breeds in the past.
Pure breed Rottweilers
Pure breed black lab.
Gorgeous, good natured dogs 😀
Labradoodle. They are quite common here.
Pure Boston.
Mix, a Jac-Chi.
