What do you do when the electricity goes off at night?

I continue living normally. I have UPSs (battery backups) that will keep my network going for over 6 hours, and my primary PC for just under 3 hours. I also have solar, so I can recharge all those batteries during the day if the power isn't on. I have many flashlights, lamps, and rechargeable batteries, so lighting and cell phones aren't a problem either.

Besides, most of the night I'll be sleeping anyway. My dogs will alert me if there are intruders, so I can sleep well.

I don't think that's ever happened to me tbh. Not for more than a few mins. Basically, everywhere I have lived has had generators.

Use my laptop to watch a movie or play a game on my laptop or Switch. I have long lasting lanterns with rechargeable batteries so I would be fine for 1 1/2 weeks.

Make sure the alarm is set on my phone. Unplug any electronics that don't have surge protectors. Go back to sleep.

Well, night is when I sleep, and sleep is when I stop breathing (thanks, sleep apnea!), so... die.

Check the power company's website to see when it's expected on.
Play on my phone. Listen to the radio. Try to sleep. Go out to a restaurant that has power.

I call the electric company to report the outage and then dig out the flashlights and lanterns

Look for the source of the problem, if no obvious reason can be found contact landlord. If very late at night it doesn't matter, I'm asleep.
