Are Asian parents really that strict?

My family never hit me after I was older, except maybe once in 15 years or so. But I got yelled at all the time. It made me a terrified person when I was younger, and a fearless person when I became an adult. I had dynamite social confidence that not even Osama Bin Ladin could kill cause I faced so much rejection it no longer scared me.

Yeah they are strict. Once I got really poor grades in maths and my mom said to not call her mom from that day. So being that mischievous kid I called her aunty and the next moment I felt her slippers give a red marks on my forehead lol 😂

@Cheerfull009 but my parents are quite open minded and have better parenting compared to other parents. They don't beat me up, they don't scold me when I have bad marks. They know aggression will only demotivate me, they understood my personality and know that I'm understanding and determined enough to improve in any field I like. It's just that they are more inclined towards studies rather than my passion but that's only my mom, my dad is the best person. Yes they may not be as cool as parents in west but I believe strictness should be there to grow up an individual with strong foundation. In the incident which I shared, I jokingly called my mom aunt and being offended she threw her slippers at me but then laughed off to the situation.
