Dogs:
1. Smells horrible when wet.
2. Chews on everything I own/breaks all my stuff, creates messes all the time.
3. Can't piss or shit without my help.
4. Tries to steal ALL of my food.
5. Will overeat until they barf, then will eat the barf.
6. Whines and barks constantly at everything, and also at nothing.
7. Claws are not retractable, ruins floors and furniture just by walking, scratches skin without even meaning to.
8. Can't sit on lap without stepping on my privates with claws
9. Smears it's wet snotty nose on everything.
10. Is never calm.
11. Does not self clean.

Cats:
1. Doesn't smell when wet, doesn't like getting wet either.
2. Doesn't chew on everything/doesn't break all my stuff, doesn't create messes unless sick.
3. Can piss and shit by themselves, and can even be trained to use the toilet and flush it themselves.
4. Does not try to steal my food (unless it's chicken or fish)
5. Does not overeat until they barf. Does not eat barf.
6. Every noise they make is adorable and quiet if you don't have an unfixed mating pair.

Most cats do not need a bath, they clean themselves often.

Also, most cats are fine when wet. The reason they throw a fit in a bath, is actually the sudden temperature change. It's a bit like if you got in the shower, and got blasted with freezing or scalding water. Cats are very sensative to temperature changes, its why they sit on warm things. Water pressure can't too high either or it hurts them because they are small.

I had cats and dogs at the same time and now i will choose cats all the way. I treat them differently and cats do tricks and follow voices and commands too.

I personally love both and want a cat eventually. But I currently have dogs that are somewhat cat aggressive. And while I’m sure with corrections they could cohabitate well will a cat but I’m not willing to put an innocent kitten on the chopping block should things go sideways. Both my dogs have a high prey drive so a fast moving kitten wouldn’t be a good option.


Maybe once my dogs pass I’ll consider getting a kitten and a puppy to raise together. Both have their pros and cons though.

I think in a high-safety scenario... people go with cats just because it is lower maintenance. If you live in a place where the dog can go out a doggy door and take care of its business, then it evens out. Nothing would suck more than having to go for a walk in the rain and pick up your dog's shit and carry it home with you. But if you have a property and the dog can just go do the dog stuff on its own... the choice is obvious.
