Are you a good speaker or good listener?

Well, I'm a good speaker, yes but instead of venting out and telling my story I listen other's story and them venting out more and comment them or advice them. I'm more of a listener and advisor, at least that's what my friends made me. Therapist friend of the group you can say.

Should be an option for both. I have given speeches at ceremonies, evidence in court, defended my studies, been the main speaker at conferences, guest speaker at universities and colleges. so I have gotten used to speaking to the masses.

I think I am a pretty good listener as well. I have been questioned by many litigators regarding studies I've completed so you're under a great amount of pressure to listen and answer questions. I am also a professional birder, so I not only listen to people, I listen to what animals have to say, also. Depending on the property, I can sometimes hear the calls and notes of up 50-60 bird species.

It all depends on the situation.
When someone needs someone to talk to, I will listen, I won't judge that person and I won't try to find solutions and just listen, unless I'm asked for advice then I speak lol
When I'm like in a group and nobody else is talkative in that group, I become the speaker but someone else is taking that spot I'm gladly just sitting there and listen too

I think what i learn is a lot of people don't have my best interests at heart, and a lot of their words are self serving, or toxic.
So when I find a genuine person, i will take the time to listen to them, and understand them

I do both, obviously, but I'm much better at active listening than making coherent sentences come out of my mouth. My stories and rants don't make much sense, but we usually have a good laugh about my adhd ramblings.

TBH I have always been a good listener where there are not many out there anymore which a lot of people are so quick to judge and constantly cutting you off and/or interrupting before ever letting you finish what you are saying

Yes we do have different opinions but people don't realise that they first need to understand than being understood. It's not like your opinion is incorrect but mine is not incorrect either, you just need to see it from the other's perspective and that would have happened if people were willing to listen each other rather than blabber their own opinions infront of world while the world blabbers its own opinion to the person, and in the end no one would understand anyone's perspective because they never tried looking at the other point of view which is possible when the person is a better listener. Sure controversies won't end after this too, we are humans after all and we like to know that we are correct but controversial things wouldn't have been so aggressive and stupid. People are literally having a huge controversy in beauty standards now when there's so much out there in the world to fix! There won't be any stupid controversy if people were willing to listen. Got my point?
