I’d honestly never bungee jump and I kinda lost interest in skydiving. But i’m feelin like stupidass bella in Twilight and i wanna try cliffjumping. What are the chances of accidentally hitting a rock or hitting the water too hard that you might not be okay after? Cause i really ain't tryna die. I just wanna be able to breathe again #FeelFreeToList
5.1K opinions shared on Other topic. Cliff jumping. I've done that. Wasn't that hard. Though I will say this. Know how deep the water is and of any obstructions before doing it. 😆 also you're jumping from a great height. Start flapping your arms as soon as you enter the water to slow your descent, NOT BEFORE you can break your damn arms. Also as I said since you're jumping from a great height you're going to go deep if you ain't careful and you could drown before you get back to the surface (I'm not kidding!). The first time I did it no one told me this. Two things I remember about it 1. You go so deep you feel the water temperature change in a instant from the warm surface depth to the the deep cold water. And I remember thinking where is the surface I should have surfaced by now. They say the majority of the people that jump off the Golden Gate Bridge don't die from the impact but rather from drowning.

Man this is scary! And i didn't even know to flap my arms lol. What if i jump with scuba gear? Lol
- +1 y
Not the entire suir. Just the mask/tank stuff so i can breathe and not drown
- +1 y
Well I've never wore a rebreather. I would imagine how tight it fits and how you land. But if you're worried about drowning then start at a very low part of the cliff and see how long it takes you to surface. And work you're way higher. If it starts taking longer than you're comfortable with. Then don't go any higher. Obviously I didn't drown, or even come close to drowning really. It was mostly the fear factor. I was taken by surprise. I didn't know ahead of time it'd take that long to surface. If you're prepared I think you'd be just fine.

Thank you so much

There's a technique I use pretty much any time I jump off anything bigger than 30', and even sometimes at 20'-30' if it's not that deep, to avoid going too deep. I don't flap my arms, what I do is curve my body so that my feet shoot forward and my body kind of flips to be horizontal in the water. It limits how fast and deep you go, and redirects you to go more parallel to the surface.
The guy in this video kind of does it, though tbh he goes horizontal a bit earlier than I would, before entering the water : https://youtu.be/V9-CE-FGk4U - +1 y
@zeitgeist057 oh gosh i’d freak that that would hurt my neck

+1 yAs someone who has jumped from fairly high up (30-40'), I would say the best bet is to go to somewhere that you know lots of other people have jumped in the same spot, and also to work your way up. Do some jumps around 10 feet to 20 feet first. If you are literally diving head first, start even lower around 5-10 feet and get a good amount of practice in.
I do feet first for anything over 20 feet. My technique is to cross my ankles and point my toes, and keep my knees a little bent so that when I touch the water, they can bend and absorb the impact. Having ankles crossed is to create a barrier/ break in the water, so that my genitals don't get hammered. My mom jumped off a 20-25' with me one day and she said that water slammed up inside her painfully, so be careful (even with a suit or shorts on).

It's a lot of fun, enjoy and stay safe!
23 Reply- +1 y
Oh yea i’d never do head first
- +1 y
@ChiTown33 yeah I don't know. I don't have my legs totally loose, but they aren't super stiff, either. Maybe it is a technique of sorts just developed over time? They are like shock absorption which you kind of need for stuff really high up like that.

+1 yI used to cliff jump when I was 8-10 years old. I would head to the "cliffs" in the nearby provincial park and dive/jump off them. The were about 50 ft high.
I would often make a bit of cash betting people I would do it. Show up when there were a bunch of 20 somethings contemplating it. I would back away a few times and look really timid about it. My brother would say, I bet you 5 bucks, and the 20 somethings would try to get in on the bet.
Little did they know I'd been off it 100's of times. I would head to the park store and fil up on candy afterwards or grab a burger or hotdog. LOL
I've also been bungee jumping and would likely do that over again. I've been 3 times in the past, the last time about 10 years ago.
Never been skydiving and doubt I would ever jump out of a plane.
12 Reply- +1 y
Wow you seem like a thrill seeker tho lol
- +1 y
I never would have thought that. Maybe a little more than most. Looking back we did a lot of crazy things, like fence/pool jumping from the roof of my friends house into the neighbors pool when the were gone on vacation. LOL
1.4K opinions shared on Other topic. Skydiving is probably the easiest because you can get strapped on to a pro and they do everything. But it's probably more expensive. Bungee jumping can fuck you up a bit at the bottom is what I heard ^^ and cliff diving it deends on the cliff. Usually the popular places will be pretty safe but there's always the chance something can happen.
01 Reply- +1 y
Yea bungee jumping to me is still the dumbest
+1 yCliff diving can be quite dangerous. Skydiving for the first time is not as exciting because you have to jump tandem. Doesn’t get really great until you are certified to jump. I have not bungee jumped, but it seems like some thing that is designed for the first time experience with no prerequisite
01 Reply- +1 y
Yeaa
393 opinions shared on Other topic. I don't know for sure, but I think parachutes come with a back up one and the chances of them being a failed chute are extremely low. Pulling it probs always has the same time frame and so it’s pretty much smooth sailing without the water.
The jump dissent seem to secure and probably has serious repercussions on the body. The dive requires someone to have diced first and many times, to prove it is a good spot. Going around high tide is probs ideal. 🌚🌝05 Reply- +1 y
I also voted sky dive for the simple reason that they strap you to a professional for your first couple of dives, so you literally do nothing and are just along for the ride. The other person is the one pulling the cord.
Second would be bungee, and lastly cliff diving which should not be done by first timers; you need to practice and work your way up in height. - +1 y
@zeitgeist057 WOA I read your answer and we said similar about finding spots that are common for dives. That’s awesome 👏😄
I would have to swap bungee and cliff dive because I don't know! What if the rope snapped? 😄🤣 or you snapped your back? Lmao
I figure if cliff diving is gradual, you can start small and do something more like- side cliff dunking/ cannonball’ ing 😂😭
What do you think? Did I convince you to swap also? Or is your answer locked in 😂
- +1 y
I’m sticking to my order, but you make a good point about cliff diving. But is is really “cliff diving” if you start off with a 4’ jump, go to 6’, 8’, &c? At what point does a cliff become a cliff? And after all those practice work up jumps, at what point is a beginner no longer a beginner? 😂
I think bungee you are just in the hands of the set up crew, it’s pretty much a no-brainer and you just put your life in their hands and trust that they did it right.. But you still have to do the jump itself and there is more room for errors like I don't know slipping off the edge or something silly probably wouldn’t mess you up. - +1 y
@zeitgeist057 😁 slip off the edge lmao!
“Get pooped on by a seagull at 10,000 feet 😂😭” anything can happen! Lol
But I see what you mean. Also now considering the seagulls and “metal birds” ✈️
If we fly the highest, we are also the superiors of the skies. What a cool random thought 🤩🤙
(I respect your views as well. Don’t agree to it, but respect it) 🤝💯
+1 yI honestly think bungee jumping would be cool for a first time they actually have some of those at the fair maybe not as high though and it all supervised by professionals. I wouldn't mind jumping off a cliff in a deep water lake or pond and skydiving woukd be my third.
01 Reply- +1 y
The way people scream doing the junp at the theme parks be freakin me out lmao
+1 yBunjee jumping is very safe. Skydiving OK, cliff diving has serious risks. I've done the first 2 but the third is more risk than I'm willing to take.
Do it if you want but be aware of the dangers.01 Reply- +1 y
Ahh okay

Nahh i seen Jaws 🤣
For me, it'd be sky diving... But, if you're gonna do rock diving then go to a registered/known place, where it's known to be as safe as possible. Check out out, do research first etc. Then have fun 😘

What about hang gliding? I've done that and it was a blast.04 Reply- +1 y
Omg no i am not brave enough to do either of those
- +1 y
But cliff diving? Aren't you afraid you'll hit the side of the cliff on your way down? I'm afraid of that!
- +1 y
I didn't even think of that. I was more worried about a rock being in the water
- +1 y
That too
+1 yI've jumped out of planes in the army. In high school I've done cliff jumping. So much easier for me to do cliff jumping. I know what you mean about hitting a rock though. Almost did a few times.
04 Reply- +1 y
Omg see thats what im scared about! I dont wanan hit a rock. Also how do you avoid hitting the water hard? Do you go feet first?
- +1 y
I always went feet first. Where I jumped was dangerous. Go too far out the current will take you, too close and you hit a rock. There were a couple times I opened my eyes under water and was within a foot of a rock.
- +1 y
Man this messin up my goals 🤣
- +1 y
Lol. It's so much fun. That was in Montana in hidden spots. We made our own cliff jumping places. More public areas are safer.
3.1K opinions shared on Other topic. Bungee jumping is completely passive. Skydiving requires considerable care unless one is jumping for the first time strapped to an instructor.
02 Reply- +1 y
And the Cliff?
12.8K opinions shared on Other topic. I heard skydiving is fun. You go tandem with an instructor so you don't even go to jump school.
11 Reply- +1 y
Ahh i see
+1 yThe burden of safety is different on bungee jumping and cliff diving is on you. Unlike sky diving where you go down escorted from start to finish. So, sky diving is the easiest.
01 Reply- +1 y
Ahh ok
They all are great things to try, the riskiest being cliff jumping but you can try all without getting hurt, just go for the VR version of the same.
So you get the rush of the activity with 100 percent safety.02 Reply- +1 y
Its not the same

+1 yI tried cliff diving. It was fun. Although, my friend didn't land well in the water and injured his shoulder. He had to have surgery.
02 Reply- +1 y
Just realized I didn't answer the question.
I think skydiving, because you have an instructor with you at all times, so it seems safer. - +1 y
Yes see im worried about not landing well
- 563 opinions shared on Other topic.
+1 ySkydiving is easier and more accessible than bungee jumping or cliff diving
02 Reply- +1 y
Oh you think its hard to find a cliff
- +1 y
Yes. If it doesn't involve land below it. There can be cliffs, but what the fuck is the point if there is no water for a cliff dive. Unless you are looking for a closed casket
1.4K opinions shared on Other topic. I did the cliff jump a few times. But I got used to the idea by first going off 3 meter diving platforms and then 10 meter diving platforms first. Good to learn how to stop underwater also.
04 Reply- +1 y
Oh wow like to stop from sinking?
- +1 y
But i dont actually want to dive. I want to go feet first

+1 yI've gone sky diving. I will not go bungee jumping. I had a family friend get thrashed cliff diving so I likely won't be doing that either.

Thrashed as in? Like they hit the water too hard?

Your first time sky diving, you’ll be hooked up with an experienced sky diver so you won’t be by yourself.
02 Reply- +1 y
Either way i dont see myself being into that anymore
+1 yI would only go for skydiving. There are two set of parachutes.
01 Reply- +1 y
True
