Trending & News Can you even afford a reclining sofa? They range from $700-$6,000

I bought an older, but almost completely unused reclining sofa for $100 (plus my labor to move it) at a moving sale. And while it's not quite like going to a furniture store and picking out the exact model you want, I just kept an eye on Craigslist for something close to what I was looking for, and in 6 or 7 weeks, I found it.
At my old house, I had a nice hot tub. It cost me ZERO to buy - but I had to borrow a friend's trailer and move it myself with a couple of friends, and I had to pay to hook it up to power. Still, the perception of many is that you have to be wealthy to have a hot tub, but you really don't if you're willing to do some work and you aren't on a tight schedule.
If you insist on buying everything brand new, then, yeah, that's going to cost you a lot to have a high lifestyle. But you might be surprised at how high you can live with very little money if you're willing to take a little time and do some work - and you need to have access to a truck, because most of these require you to move things yourself in a short amount of time.
I would assume people that want to spend more time on the sofa, they would buy a higher quality with more comfortable features but they can be affordable, the question is would someone want to waste so much on something they probably won't sit on everyday
I don’t think it really defines someone as rich. There’s plenty of sources where you can get them for inexpensive / some people that do live beyond their means for luxury

Recliners are really nice. But I will agree they're quite expensive. It's because of all the mechanics that goes into them. I've also learned that you can afford what you want. Even putting yourself into debt. It took me 25 years before I got my first recliner. It's just a piece of furniture.
I have them, but I really enjoy movie nights and gaming night frequently so it's worth it for me.
I have a pair of recliner chairs they cost me £115 second hand
One retailed for a few hundred but the other would have been about £2,000
Nope. Just wanting to be comfortable. Plus two of our cats lay by our feet when the foot boards are up.
Just for owning one. No.
