I've had three attempted muggings and a burglary. Three of the women in my extended family have been the attempted victim of violent crimes (They of course carry, too, but you can never have TOO overwhelming of firepower). I have "complications" with work that results in some people REALLY not liking me. Bad guys have guns, I prefer to not give them an advantage.

They're fun to shoot and have resulted in quite a number of good "first dates" when I take someone to the range and they fire "the real ist" for the first time.

There's probably some more reasons, but those were the ones that sprung to mind with little effort.

Because I live in the real world. Which in case you haven’t noticed is a seriously fucked up place where rape, murder, and kidnaping have become commonplace.

Exactly. Even IF the courts sentence them to death or life, it does little for those harmed. If anything. I'd rather put someone down before they get a chance to do me or a loved one harm.
