Are insincere apologies worse than getting no apology at all?

Are insincere apologies (the person doesn't mean those words and can even be laughing behind your back, even hates you) worse than getting none at all?

Yes they are worse, as they're basically insulting your intelligence level that you would actually believe they are being sincere. They're waiting for your dramatic reaction which lets them know that they have power over you, since you obviously care enough about what they think about you for you to want to try and get them to apologize properly.

I tend to not care. I learned to stop putting my expectations on others a long time ago. So they can act in any old fashion they want. If I consider it acceptable then I remain in contact with them. If it routinely is not. Then I eventually just cut them out of my life.

Nope cause they still had to control their ego to fake apologize, now just cause it's not worse doesn't mean you have to fuck with them still, you can forgive and move on.

I can tell the difference if someone at least has enough of a conscience to know that they should be apologizing for something, but they can't find the right words for the moment and end up stumbling through an apology.

I give those a pass. They tried.
