Like actual pigs ears old school country style fat grease crunch everything he’s had 4 today and now he’s got diabetes, Not trying to be a bad owner because I know he loves them but maybe 1 a day or every couple days, he is 7 at this point, but acts like a giant puppy. (British golden retriever). Although I did but out of frustration shot and that might of scared the shit out of him. (I live in the country no one will get shot we frequently shoot guns out here at all hours we know where we can shoot without killing each other, it’s country unwritten law
one is enough because of the high fat content, you can get him a what we call in the states a soup bone, you just boil it down and let it cool off then give him one. its good for his teeth and not loaded with fat because it doesn't have tons of stuff on it, basically its good for their teeth and chewing on, you can get them at a local butcher or the market, including a pic so you can see what they look like

Yes, although pigs ears I wouldn’t think would lead to diabetes, diet would tie more into that. But pigs ears are high in fat, I’d be more concerned about pancreatitis. One a week is fine he doesn’t need them multiple times a week.
For chews look into bully sticks or, raw bones like rib bones or neck bones (always supervise with any chew). Avoid weight bearing bones like marrow bones ie; femurs, and avoids machine cut bones like butcher bones.
You can also look into making your own treats, if you fish you can skin and roll the skins and dehydrate them, good source of omegas. Dehydrate beef hearts, or chicken breasts.
that's one of the worst things you can give your dog and you're going to feel like shit when your dog loses it's eyesight. find an alternative like carrots. dogs love healthy food just as much as a pig ear. it's too young to have diabetes from unhealthy eating

Apart from the risk of over feeding I wouldn't worry too much. Look out for packs of dehydrated offal, you can get them online but a few farm shops sell them a lot cheaper
Once a day is fine.
