Why does Audi only use V6 if BMW (and Mercedes to some extent) have proved that inline-sixes are better?

With the V6 they are able to produce high performance variants of ordinary saloon cars on a wide variety of chasis without having to enlarge the overall design. Audi is a part of the Volkswagon group so most of their models are basically the same with similar component parts of varying quality. It's the same as Seat and Skoda.

An inline 6 is a truck engine. You think you could get a straight line 6 with two turbo chargers into an Audi A5?
