I've had glasses since I was 5 years old. I actually needed them much earlier than then.
I had "eagle-eye" corrected vision from 5 years old until cataracts began to cloud my vision at about age 50, but it was still quite good until what came next.
At about age 60, massive vitreous detachment occurred in one eye, then also in my other eye a year later, requiring cataract surgery followed by vitrectomy surgeries. I was told that the cataract surgeries were prerequisite to the vitrectomies for two reasons. The cloudiness of the cataracts would prevent the vitrectomy surgeon from being able to see into my eyes while performing the surgery, and that something about the vitrectomy surgery would quickly make the cataracts much, much worse anyway, so my natural lenses had to be replaced with IOLs.
The vitrectomy surgeries to remove the "goo" from inside my eyes were successful, but I'm extremely unhappy with the intraocular lenses that were implanted during the cataract surgeries.
I'd always been near-sighted and would have preferred to still have good uncorrected near vision, but the cataract surgeon talked me into having far vision intraocular lenses implanted. I finally gave in to his argument for having far vision lenses implanted. It was the worst decision I've ever made.
I can no longer see anything close-up without having numerous different-powered magnifying glasses at my disposal. As I like to repair very small mechanical items, my ability to do so has been pretty much completely shut down. Reading is extremely difficult. I'm told that I'm stuck with the lenses that were implanted. They cannot be replaced.
In the past, I'd always heard nothing but good things about people having cataract surgery. I'm not one of those people.
I'd caution anyone contemplating cataract surgery to consider the possible negatives of doing so.

I had perfect vision until sometime in my 30s. When it came time to renew my driver's license they said I needed to get glasses. So I did but I never wore them.
A few years ago, I got cataract surgery. Now I have 20/20 vision again and am not required to wear glasses to drive. But with the lenses I got, I need to use readers to see up close.
Yes. But i started wearing glasses just recently. I'm not blind, but my dreds brush past my eyes. So i got me glasses so I can see without them touching my eyes. Now I've upgraded to red lens glasses. to see better since my clear ones didn't help me see in the dark so easily. But hoooly shit, colored ones like green, red, yellow, pink, works wonders... for me. (i only own red ones tho, not the rest of the colors)
No, I wonder how I'm not blind by now considering my screen time since school also started uploading study materials online. My screen time exceeded 15 hours in lockdown sometimes because all the study material was online.

But they will always be part of my life.
Yes, I'm nearsighted, so most objects far away appear blurry. I used to be ashamed, when I was younger and avoid wearing them, so that I don't get called a nerd, but now I don't give a damn
