They are the casual relationships before meet your perfect partner that ticks all your boxes, a partner you want to share the rest of your life with.
Did you or do you have entry level relationships, or does your date need to tick all the right boxes from the start before you'll date them?

If you are single and female you might be looking for a prince charming, or a knight in shining armor.
If you are male you might be unconsciously striving to what is apparently known as the Anima according to Carl Jung.
This female has the qualities of Eve someone tied heavily to the mother.
Helen's pure beauty, epitomized by Helen of Troy.
Mary the spiritualized companion representing purity.
Sophia the archetype of wisdom.
Perhaps if single you need to lower your standards 🙂

What you are calling "entry level" relationship is what most people would call a casual relationship.
I have had some relationships without commitment. You don't know enough at the beginning of a relationship to understand the potential, or lack of potential. But as I got older, I avoided relationships which presented obvious red flags from the beginning.
I had 4 year relationship with somebody that sadly ended because of external circumstances. After that I decided to just date to have fun and had 4 relationships in the course of the next year. I decided that I was done with dating for a while or maybe forever. Ironically I met my wife the very next day.
I only had one E. L. relationship with a particular girl for a few months before we ended it, and I eventually found the girl I would eventually marry. She was pretty insistent on engagement, marriage, and on us staying married for the last 37 years.
I dated non-stop from the age of 12 until I met my husband at 20 years old. I was pretty much done with men when I met him, but he was so exceptional, I soon weakened.
Isn't that the way relationships start?
Not necessarily you might be waiting for a prince charming or a knight in shining armor?
Technically I still have a starter-wife.
There is no such thing.
Huh?
