Before I was interested in a life-partner, I met girlfriends who were life-partner material at places like school, work, and through groups of friends. The best woman I ever met in my life (aside from my wife), I met through my job. She worked at a place I had to frequent for work. God I loved that woman and she loved me. She was 31 and I was 37 at that point. We virtually lived together for over a year, but a life together was not meant to be.

After her, I joined a pre-internet dating service. There were shelves and shelves of ring binders arranged in alphabetic order based on first names. Each person had one page. On one side was a profile and other the other was a photo that had been taken by the service. They'd take several photos during a shoot and you picked the one you wanted to use.
It was like a candy store. I'd go through and look at photos. If I though a girl was cute, I'd read her profile. If you were interested in meeting someone, you filled out a card that got sent to the person. They could check out your photo and profile. If they accepted your invitation, the service gave both of you each other's phone numbers.
I went on several dates before I met my wife.

There is this social group for people with developmental disabilities, but are still high functioning. We met in an event that was (ironically) designed for strengthening relationships. Since we hadn't met each other before we didn't have a relationship to strengthen until later

I met my husband in elementary school. we were just ten years old when we met in fifth grade. I remembered him pretty well, he was really friendly. He had two close friends, whom he hung out with all the time during recess. I remembered what shirts he liked to wear (large shirts with dragons on them). He had long wavy dark brown hair. We had 5th and 6th grade together. We also had some 7th grade classes together. We weren't close friends or in love or anything like that.

Fast forward time, till we are 23. I found a mutual friend on facebook and I had just added her to my friends list. She had just added him to her friends list. Then I requested him to add me. He did NOT add me until 3 months later, and then he writes me a friendly note asking me how I am doing. He apologizes for taking so long to add me (he was busy with work) and he apologized for not "sweeping me off my feet" or whatever. That was because I asked him if he was single and if he wanted to see me.

We started "talking" or whatever you call it when he turned 24. We've been together ever since.

My husband and I met on Christmas vacation in Costa Rica. It was December 2007. We were in middle school. (12 and 14 y/o). Both of our families had decided to go on vacation at this resort, apparently. We met when my dumb ass got bowled over by a wave in the ocean and I crashed into him 😂🤦🏼‍♀️

We were the only ones near each other's age who spoke English. Turned out we were from the same hometown back in the US.

We officially started dating in 2011 and got married in 2018.
