What makes you look at someone and say to them “you need a dog”?

Anonymous

I’ve had many people say this to me over the past few years and I’ve thought about getting one, but I travel often and do not want to pay for someone to take care of them while I’m gone.

This started with people saying I need a dog on my dating profile so I get more matches. I took pictures walking and holding my friend’s German Shepard but it didn’t result in more matches.

Then on a first date with a girl, within 10 minutes of us meeting, she randomly says “you need a dog” in an aggressive manner. I ask why, but she doesn’t give me a clear answer. She just brags about her puppy while complaining about vet bills.

I didn’t grow up with pets, mostly because my dad is allergic. So I’m not really used to them. What makes you think someone needs a dog? Could it be something in their personality?
