I actually hit 850 before I picked up two more credit cards. I'm at 820-835 now depending on how much of my balance is utilized, but I pay them all off in full each month, so... you know. Average age of account took a hit so it'll be a while before I get all the way back to 850 again
Problem with getting more credit cards is that you will have to keep and manage them forever to prevent cancellation or they will be cancelled and hit your score again.
@MementoMori_ I use amazon gift cards and the like to always keep them active. Every year I'll throw a big non-category purchase like roof/new windows etc on a new card to get a higher balance so they don't cut my credit limit. MS subscription on one. Google drive space for my mom on one. Two of them do $5 amazon gift cards every month. I got over a dozen total between business and personal (of course business doesn't affect my credit score) and it's surprisingly easy to keep them active if you put the recurring charges on them, but yeah don't want them cancelled, especially if it's an old card.
Credit score is really a bunch of BS.
I had a horrible credit score post divorce. It stayed the same for years. Then I made an investment that paid off big time. 7 figures this year. All of a sudden my credit score went from horrible to excellent.
I did nothing to change my score. I still have black marks on my file, but now I have significant disposable income it's in the excellent territory?
Seems like they are just trying to get me back into debt🤷
I have no idea what my credit score is. I would think it is good because I never was late for or missed a payment & my loans & mortgage is paid off.
I don't pay anything or work so I assume I don't have one..

mine's around 800+ now. just paid off a car a year ago and that's when i got my score
i stupidly listen to bad money advice at college now i have bad score. i will improve it this year.
840 ... I"m not kidding
It’s like you’re my spirit animal 😍😘
wow nice. Mine record is about 815, currently around 800+. I have no idea how to get it higher, I have no debt.
A great one.
I've worked hard over the years to achieve it and maintain it.
So many people just don't understand how important that is.
How important is it?
@midnightmoon05 very important especially when you want to buy a house, buy or lease a car, rent an apartment or other place to live, a place of employment could possibly check it, or take a loan out for anything.
It can determine if you can get a loan, and if you can what will your interest rate be.
We have been taught that’s how we must live. I chose not to follow. I have great credit scores. But I don’t do loans. When we borrow we become slaves to debt. They have put all people in debt. Get out and buy cash.
If I don’t have enough money… I don’t buy. All my cars are purchased with cash. Etc.
@midnightmoon05 I was never taught that is how we must live, I was taught that done correctly it is a very good tool to use when used correctly.
They way you choose to do things is also fine, it works for you, however someday you might just need to borrow money and without a good credit score you are in trouble.
Borrowing money does not make you a "slave" to debt, in fact it is a very good way to get ahead if you use it properly.
I have rental properties, my tenants pay for them, not me, and I have also bought and sold houses and made a lot of money, but I use someone else's money to do that.
Why risk mine? For me it is a great tool to use, and I am not a slave at all.
The money I don't spend of my own can then be put to use to do other things, like our travel around the world, the freedom to come and go as we please, my classic car collection and not have to worry about if I don't have enough money I simply don't buy, not saying that you worry about it.
At an early age I did not have to work anymore, I just chose to do what I do because it is a passion of mine.
I love the freedom to come and go as I please, to help others, but that may not be important to others.
We all make choices in live, I'm happy with my choices, and I'm sure you are happy with yours.
Now it's off to educate kids about fire safety.
Best week of the year.
Sounds like we are on the same boat.
What got most into trouble with credit/debt is just that…they HAVE to have credits. But the other option is to not be in debt- is financial freedom… which I believe ALL Americans can obtain.
It used to be 745. Now I completely jacked it up.
I have excellent credit. Everyone wants to loan me money
I always like to say I don't mind getting my identity stolen. They can only improve my credit score at this point.😆
yep and im sure its fn awful. i push my credit card to within an inch of its life before i spend a cent of my own money
It is good, but not great.
