What's your credit score?

Mine is 500's. I've never had a credit card. Anything I apply for I get denied. So I'm screwed.

Have you tried getting a secured credit card? You put down a certain amount of money (like 50-250 dollars) and use that. Your credit limit will be exceedingly low, but the point is to build credit. Use it for small things like getting gas for your car. Make sure you make your payments on time and you'll slowly build credit to where you can eventually get a basic credit card. Also, if you have a parent/friend that has good credit, you could see if they will add you to their card as an authorized user (and just not give you an active card) that, as long as they are making payments, will also build your credit.

My credit score has been as high as 827, but it's mid 700s now since we just bought a house last year and paid off our car so that dropped off my account.

Something to help build credit is opening up credit cards that you will be able to manage well with payments, paying bills, getting a place, car, and such.

Get a capital one platinum secured card. After one year it becomes an unsecured card. That's what I did like 10 years ago.

Oh and the money you secure it with gets applied as a payment, unless you're at a zero balance, it gets added to your total available credit.
