What are your thoughts on the recent news that Jackson State student “Jaylen Burns” was killed on campus?

The report stated that Jaylen Burns went to the school in Jackson, Mississippi. He had previously attended high school in Country Club Hills.

His father Jason said he was with one of his fraternity brothers, who wanted to break up with his girlfriend and get his things out of her apartment.

The girlfriend invited another group of people over to her apartment, Burns' father said. He said someone in that group had a gun and a fight broke out. He said Jaylen was trying to break up the fight when he was shot and killed.

"He wasn't a violent kid, he didn't know anything about guns or fighting or gangs, you know, anything about that," Jason Burns said. "He just-I don't know, I never felt like this before in my life."

Jaylen Burns was studying industrial technology and was set to turn 22 in November.

He was killed late Sunday evening, WLBT reports.

Jaylen Burns was shot and killed at the University Pointe Apartment Complex, according to the university. He tried to drive himself to the hospital but he wasn’t able to make it.

Wrong place wong time. This is so sad. I dont keep up with the news so i wasn't aware (despite this being in my state). This is why i worry about my dude hanging with his dumbass immature college friends and constantly trying to impress them. I dont want him to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. he's too stubborn and won't listen

Man forreal, this is exactly why you gotta be careful who you hang out with these days. College kids can get wild sometimes without even realizing how serious shit can go down.

I definitely hear you worrying about your man and his friends. It'd stress me out too if he was always trying to prove himself to bunch of dumbasses who don't think before they act. One wrong move and it could be over just like that.

Have you talked to him seriously about this? Maybe show him this news story about Jaylen so he realizes it's not a game. People are really out here shooting each other over stupid little arguments. That could be him easy if he's not careful.

I'd tell him straight up you care about him too much to see him take a risk like that. His friends ain't gonna be there for him if he catches a bullet trying to be cool. Hopefully hearing a real life example like this will make him wise up, but you gotta keep on him about who he associates with for sure. His safety should be the number one priority.

And my question is why this girl felt to have those dudes come over when the guy could’ve left peacefully with his stuff and no drama? Do you think it was because she was bitter/childish and wanted those guys to kill them both or or just straight up evil… because of their drama and bringing those dudes over there knowing of them had a gun cocked reedy to shoot somebody, this guy lost his life.
