What are your thoughts on the recent beating of Missouri teen Kaylee Gain?

Kaylee appears to have been hit and beaten by fellow student Maurnice DeClue. DeClue, who is considerably larger than the more petite Kaylee Gain, slammed Gain's head into the pavement several times before leaving her convulsing before paramedics arrived.

15 year old Maurnice DeClue has been arrested and charges are now pending. She will likely be charged as an adult.

There is no indication if Kaylee will recover or even survive her injuries. She's currently being listed in critical condition.

Gain's appears to be backing away from DeClue.

It appears that Kaylee is out of her coma and has limited speach. She's only able to walk with assistance. She has no recollection of the assult that placed her in the ICU.

Maurnice is demon possessed plain and simple, no normal person does those things. The problem is the people around her and same with similar circumstances don't realize it. Get them to hold the bible, read the lords prayer outlook and when they say... "and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil" AND they can't say it... it proves that have a demon. There is ALWAYS a preacher around when that happens.

I don't know. If Kaylee was the aggressor, as some reports suggest, I find it difficult to feel too sorry for her. Yes, the retaliation was excessive, but they are kids and kids can’t always gage excessive force. Hell, even adults can lose sight of that when involved in a confrontation.
However, we don’t have all the details, so I will wait for form an opinion.

No question it was excessive. I find it surprising that such a small girl would go after someone who was so considerably larger. Once DeClue had Gain on the ground, it would be extremely difficult to claim the rest was self defense. I think it's why the DA has already stated DeClue will be prosecuted as an adult and potentially for manslaughter if Gain doesn't recover.

Manslaughter carries a sentence of 15 years and the fact of it being a hate crime can tack on another 10 years. So with the maximum, she'll be 40 by the time she's released from prison.

Hopefully Gain will recover.

Well, we don't know the origins of the fight but just based on the actions... the bigger girl won the fight. If she had just gotten off and stopped after the girl was down and beaten then that is just life.

But, after she won she then kept pummeling her head into the pavement. Now she is attempting to do great harm, she is attempting murder.

She should be charged with attempted murder and if the girl dies charged with murder. Maybe 2nd degree. I don't think it would be 1st degree.

I don't know. Don't fight. If you put yourself in danger, dangerous things can and will usually happen. As for the girl beating her after she was knocked out she obviously has serious issues. I never believed in kicking people in the head or hitting their head after they were knocked out because yes, that can kill people, it is common sense. Have I seen others do it? Yes, many times at school but luckily there was always someone willing to step in and break it up. Sometimes fights are inevitable but I don't know stuff can usually be de-escalated if you try lol.

After seeing the video it happened super fast, I thought she was beating her after she was knock out from what people said, but she didn't. I don't know why people resort to slamming peoples head in the ground but they do. Glad to hear she woke up today. All I can say is people really should try to avoid fights at all costs because why loose your life for a stupid disagreement or because you don't like someone.

need info as to what lead to her starting it with the other girl. she started to mess with her? Very unwise to mess with a person 2x her size when Kaylee is very skinny. That alone says there is either a lot of stress or emotional problem to begin with.

We don't get quite that vengeful, but it is possible, if Gain doesn't regain consciousness, that DeClue could be charged with more than assault charges -- that being manslaughter.

Because it could be considered a hate crime, she could be sentenced to 25 years in an adult prison.

Maurnice deserves to be tried as an adult. She had zero concern for Miss Gain. This is absolutely disgusting and despicable behavior. She wanted to her hurt her. Despite of seeing that she didn’t respond to the fight, she continued hearing her head against the asphalt. And to make matters worst, she sees her convulsing and does nothing.

Maurnice might have a big butt, but she didn't use weight advantage, rather she used a deadly technique. I can't say this was premeditated. I don't know the context as to how this fight started. I think young ladies should learn from this. They should put aside their pride and run away from fights they can't handle because nobody else is 100% responsible for you except for yourself. This world is cold, and to survive we need to be smart.
