Do people in luxury cars drive more recklessly?

Question

My employer has been driving me around, every time I need to go to the doctor or somewhere.

She picks me up in different luxury cars every time.

She is a nice person but drives terribly, makes me worried for my 2nd leg too.

Last time, we got in a a small accident, as she was driving very fast and so recklessly.

Today she picked me up in another car again.

Why’s not she driving more carefully? I almost feel like getting off and calling uber instead.

I looked it up. There have been studies that show luxury car drivers are worse drivers. I didn't take the time to look at the studies closely, so I don't know how good they are. I don't know if it was based on miles driven or not. I see the possibility that luxury car drivers spend more time on the road, which means all their numbers will go up. I also see the possibility that luxury car divers are more busy, and in more of a hurry because of that.

I won't place much weight on studies I haven't taken the time to really look at closely.

From personal observation I've never noticed it... with one exception. BMW drivers tailgated like crazy when driving on twisty roads in the hills. I think they loved taking the curves fast and hated people in front of them spoiling their fun. This was in Silicon Valley with a lot of BMWs. I crossed the mountains to the coast almost every day. Those BMWs were always right on my ass.

Id say she has picked up Asian driving , with all due respect Chinese cannot drive very well , neither can khun Thai for that matter , I'm not sure it matters what can they are in , but in prestige cars people do tend to leave larger spaces etc , because they dont want to hit you , so its probably all she's ever driven and her concentration span is limited also..

But yeah , they all drive wayyyyyyyyyy too fast , and are very reckless.

I don't think it's just about the luxury cars she drives.

She's simply a reckless driver overall.

If she was behind the wheel of a low budget vehicle, the experience would be worse.

That "small accident" might have resulted in a major accident if she drove a low budget car.

She's just a terrible driver.

Need for speed: There's science behind it in that  . There's also a   at play. Luxury cars tend to hug the ground and make the road appear to go by faster compared to a high clearance vehicle like truck. There are some that have governor toggles to prevent people from spinning out because of too much horsepower. There's also reckless endangerment: They also might not care if they have money to burn. If your coworker had to do her own maintenance, I bet she wouldn't be so reckless.

Tell your dumb boss to not drive like she wants to die. She can be irresponsible with her own safely but doing so with yours is not right at all. Over a million people die in car crashes every year. It's not a gamble she should be taking. I used to drive like a complete ass until I rolled my truck and got ejected from the vehicle and landed on my stupid head.

She's a terrible driver. This doesn't have much to do with driving a luxury car. The truly terrible drivers are in beater cars driving on a suspended license with no insurance.

I do think there are many drivers of high-performance cars who don't know how to drive them. Anyone with a sports car should take to a track event and learn how to drive it.

I'm not a car guy so the only luxury ones I've driven are rentals. I can't really play FAFO without losing my clearance, so I drive them like they are normal cars as long as I can.

I would tend to agree with you. Seems like people in BMW’s and Mercedes think that they own the hi ways in my area. Always trying to get one more car length in a line up and pushing their way in line instead just filing in an opening when they can.

Mostly people who do not care to be good drivers, will be bad drivers. Lol. Some people care about their looks, sone about their cars, some only about making money. I would say your employer is the latter.

It's the opposite in my country. If someone has a luxury car he or she drives it extra carefully not to get hit. Cheaper the car the reckless they can be. Only exception I have seen is Audi drivers they can sometimes be snobs

I’d like to think they would drive more carefully.  Maybe she’s just a terrible driver? A lot of people don’t like my driving either, but I own a basic car.

In my area, many people who drive BMWs and Mercedes drive like they own the road, and act like driving laws ae for others, not them.

Not in my experience but then given it's been chauffeurs who without a license are out of work and my friend in exotic rentals who again makes money from cars/driving so can't lose a car or his licence

Luxury cars are far more easier to drive, if you had no power steering and had to double declutch you would be more careful imho,,,
