Who would you be now if you chased your childhood dreams?

It has nothing to do with me chasing them and everything to do with people not giving them to me! I did a lot of chasing but was never given what I was going after! If I had, I'd have been at least a record store clerk, a radio DJ and/or a famous rock drummer. Instead, I got loads of shit part time jobs; shoveling snow, building swimming pools, working in a couple print shops, working in a bank for the IRS, working in an over-priced toy store, in an over-priced department store, cutting grass, tearing down a roller coaster, delivering newspapers on 8 different routes, doing handwork (stuffing envelopes, etc.) in various short term office settings, cleaning out a 5 story building, security guard, janitor, 7-11 clerk on the graveyard shift on a huge campus, bike messenger, ticket sales at a science Center, the various games on the midway at Cedar Point, stocking shelves over night at a grocery store, washing dishes at 2 restaurants, putting stickers on make-up bottles and jars, being a waiter and food prep at another restaurant, and loads of other stuff!
The only record store gigs I got was when a friend of mine hired me at his store to help a couple days a year when it came time to do inventory. At another store, I just had to sit in a corner and put price tags on used albums, that lasted 2 days. Every other Sunday, I worked at another friend's store cleaning used records. That lasted a few months, and a guy that opened a book store decided to deal with used records, too and wanted me to clean them and put highly over-priced stickers on them. That lasted 5 days. I nearly got the "famous rock drummer" bit! I WAS in a band for 25 years and WAS at least marginally famous; I still run into my fans here and there and we broke up 19 years ago, as of this Feb. 2nd. We were working on out third album, at the time.

a shell of a human, working in game design... let's be real, probably nowhere close to it but believing i could still do it and probably working like my mom: working for someone who doesn't give a damn about me and I'm just... their little number. And then one day, i would be a game designer... still a nobody, living as how my parents see me and saying they're so proud... but i would probably be proud if i jumped off a 30 feet building. Then... i'd be happy.

Amazing how things can change.

pretty much the same... but different line of work... architecture/engineering... and I would be building bridges I would travel a lot more, for sure

Sadly I never would have make it , but I'd be on the US tour as a multiple golf major winner , and a household name in Australia. But , honestly , so many better than me failed , I appreciate it was only a dream , but I gave it my all at the time.

Probably something in health care. I resented doctors for a long time because of my disposition. I ignored all the good they had done for me up to that point. They’re human too and we don’t have cures for everything, which simply means there is more work to be done.
