New York City, NY – Tragedy struck on Saturday night when an 18-year-old woman lost her life after jumping from the fifth-floor window of an art building at New York University (NYU), according to local authorities. The incident occurred at NYU’s Barney Building on Stuyvesant Street, which houses various art department facilities, including studios, classrooms, and offices.


Emergency services responded to a distress call reporting a jumper down at around 7:30 p. m. Upon arrival, police discovered the young woman outside the building, unconscious, and with severe injuries. She was immediately transported to Bellevue Hospital, where she was tragically pronounced dead.


Investigators later determined that the woman had taken her own life by leaping from a fifth-floor window of the six-story building. It remains unclear whether she was a student at NYU.


According to witnesses, a loud thump and a scream were heard at the time of the incident.


Law enforcement officials are investigating the area outside the fence, which was found splattered with blood. The circumstances surrounding the tragic event and the reasons behind the woman’s actions remain under investigation.
