Is there any active serial killers in the US?

I notice they are more common in the 60s-80s. I read about Randy Kraft, the tool box and toy box killers. These three terrify me the most. Another one is Ted Bundy. Like how can someone turns into sickos who are so cruel to another human?

I was a teenager in the San Francisco California area in the 70's when the serial killer "The Zodiac killer" was shooting innocent people for no reason that anyone knows of. He used to go to places where young people would park their cars and make out (kiss) - like Look Out Mountain. Then he'd go right up to the driver's side of the car was while the guy was making out with his girl and shoot both of them dead with a shot gun.

Us kids were afraid to go anywhere for year's because they never caught him.

Richard Ramirez was a famous serial killer. He got married while in prison. They had a full blown white wedding. Some women are sick in the head huh?

To answer your question, with the new 10 million illegal aliens that walked into America 🇺🇸, and a lot of them from over 120 different countries were dangerous criminals that were in their prisons and they let them all out Scott free and now they are here to kill us.
It's unbelievable what the careless people in the white house has turned America 🇺🇸 into a place for future vicims because that's what we will be eventually. Horrific criminals from those other countries are just going to continue to kill people.

Just like what happened to Lake Riley who was recently murdered by an illegal alien while she was jogging. You probably heard of the case. She was a nursing student. Maybe that guy is a seriel killer for all we know.

In a country the size of the US, it's likely that there is at least one active serial killer. That being said, between vastly improved crime scene procedures, forensics, and the proliferation of cell phones and security cameras, most serial killers are caught fairly quickly. Most are not especially smart, just particularly brutal and lacking in empathy.

The smart ones are rare, but also are the ones that are harder to catch, so they are the ones that get press. It's just much harder to evade identification today, so not nearly as many of those elude capture for long.

Do you think they were smarter back then, or the lack of technology made them got away with it?

I think it was probably some of each, but I suspect the technology and just the overall knowledge (protecting the crime scene, photographing all evidence before moving anything, keeping very detailed notes, trying to analyze the killer's goals and likely background, etc.) is probably the bigger factor. Perhaps fewer smart people commit these crimes today because they're aware that their odds of getting away with it are much smaller? Hard to say for sure.

I'm sure there are. seems most are white too. but I've heard of people kidnap in china, muslim countries will do this to Europeans... and it's legal, etc.. it may be cultural aspects.

frightening story of guy in california that murdered family and kept the woman and abused her til murdered her. Very concerning if run into these people. I've run into some real creepy people... trust your gut sense!

Because I just moved here last year and everything is new to me. I used to read about all the sick crimes and just noticed they happen quite a lot in the US.

CA always seemed nuts to me, it just isn't my culture. Way up north may be different. But San Fran and south I didn't care for. Other places seem better. There's always some crazy people around. I've never had a problem lived all my life in mid west and east coast. Most people are good. But you use your gut to judge people and not trust people. There are wicked hearts. If you don't understand people and the world, I'll use God/Christ to explain it as thats how I see it.
There was a story in midwest of a happy town and a woman let her 4yr old walk to some place 1/2 mile down the road. Very bad decision. You have to protect those that don't have strength and cannot trust others blindly.
Believe in Christ? You should at least explore it. I'm not saying anyone labled Christian is good... some are not either. It's all a matter of the heart.
You should be fine, don't live in fear. Live in strength, use your senses. There are places that are quite safe, but you live smart. Even China is not safe, nor Dubai. You need to be strong inside in this world! Street wise and have confidence and trust your gut wether dealign with individuals, area, or company.

I saw a cool video about how they're now tracking people down through their relatives with DNA. They solved old serial killer cases that were never solved at the time. I think with this method it will become almost impossible to commit serious crimes in the future without being caught. I don't know about an active serial killer though.

Lol. That is so adorable that you're concerned about it🤣 But yeah, it's not a ridiculous concern. Crime in U. S. is high. Although honestly, serial killers are the least to worry about. It's more likely for someone to be killed in any random shooting or car accident than by a focused psycho just looking for his next victim.

One of the serial killers I’m most interested in watching documentaries about is Harold Shipman, a trusted community doctor who killed an estimated 250 patients (actual figure unknown) over many years and only got caught because of his own sloppiness. I’m sure there are many serial killers still at work around the world, some of which could be very well-respected members of the community. Pretty scary stuff!

it's mostly either narcissism or trauma that creates them. but yes there is a serial killer where i live. the government denies it but the deaths are adding up for over 50 years! it's possible it's random people murdering others. just last month a guy attacked another guy on a bench with a machete! that's ATX for you #ladybirdlake

None I'm aware of. The current vogue is that potential serial killers in the US seem to start and end their rampage on the same day. Usually at school.

That's a difference in execution rather than psyche. How a person with a psychopathic tendency manifests that - methodical/impulsive - is simply the two sides of a single coin.

Take Obsessive/Compulsive behaviour. It can manifest in hoarding (as it does in me) or being a complete neat-freak. Both are classified as Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder via the DSM IV.

Psychopathic behaviour of a serial or spree killer isn't that different. Both tend to start out methodically, often both are socially awkward yet intelligent individuals. In many cases there are symptoms of OCD demonstrated in the planning. The biggest differences come in the form of the final execution - literally, unfortunately. The serial killers such as the Unabomber and Ted Bundy obsessed over individual targets while spree shooters like the Columbine teenagers had a more general targeting strategy.

To avoid the police state built to combat serial killers, they'd need to be skilled in many things to avoid detection. Plus investigations are mostly confidential. So, I doubt we will know of them until a decade or two from today.
