You can do all kinds of work and never know if you did it right but when you get to try it for the first time and it works exactly as intended it is such a great feeling and an accomplishment.

Wood stoves are good. We had one but I wanted something a bit more homely and traditional. Made a large fireplace with a marble mantle piece. So happy the wife and I are retired because I have been working on our houses bit by bit and it has been very hard but soo much fun

Check the basement for leaks. Well, it's not my FAVORITE, but it is rather prudent. I will usually get caught up on my "inside" chores- restocking the kitchen canned goods, repairing the latest thing that must be repaired, resewing the latest dog toy that got ripped apart, play the piano/organ for a bit to maintain body-mind linkage, work on crossword puzzles to be sure brain is still working, etc.

I love sitting in front of a big window in my home overlooking the greenery. I love how raindrops fall on the glass and slide down. I love it. I can't take coffee because it makes me anxious, when I was in my teen years I used to love drinking coffee by the window in the rain :D
