I would go to a home improvement or big box store and buy a small window air cond. for $160 and live in the one room. This is for a desperate situation. It's better to just have the central air fixed.

Unfortunately things breakdown & when it comes to broken air conditioning you can cool your house by using a little intelligence. For starters if it’s hotter outside than it is inside keep doors & windows closed. If it’s cooler outside turn on a bathroom exhaust fan & open a few windows & let the cool air in. If you have a standing fan put a bucket of ice behind the fan & that will blow cool air. Avoid using ovens or anything that throws off heat. If it’s cooler at night open windows & cook if you have to use the oven. Wear cooler clothing. I’m the day keep blinds close to keep sun out.
