Are men dealt a harsher hand in life than women?

Normally, I would say that we had things pretty even - both men and women have responsibilities and privileges that the other doesn't have. However, the last 50 years or so, under radical Feminism, where society treats boys like they are broken girls instead of like boys, HAS in fact been extra harsh on men, as they are set up to fail by the system in most cases - and this even often includes their family. It definitely has included the education system and the corporate world over the last 50 years as well.

And the thing is: while men are definitely suffering because of this, women are also suffering because of it, and are going to suffer far more for it in the future. Women are very dependent on a world full of skilled men who are both willing and able to do the hard, difficult, dirty, physical jobs that women don't want to do or cannot do. But Millennials and Gen Z, and now Gen Alpha - are increasingly unable and unwilling to do these things (I'm talking on average - there are always exceptions). And the generational numbers are dropping quickly overall too.

What that's going to mean is that it's going to be a lot harder to get such difficult jobs done at all, and those that do get done will cost a LOT more, and will take longer, as there will be many fewer people willing or able to do them.

South Park's episode from last year - the Kathleen Kennedy episode - also covered this, as most men were unable to do anything physical, and the few handymen in the neighborhood slowly became multi-millionaires while the other men's skills were largely worthless. That's a real thing that's already happening.

I do not believe this is a productive question to ask. I say this, mainly because the opinions on what defines a "harsher hand" can differ from person to person. So we'll inevitably find that both sides have very valid reasons for why their life is hard or harsh & can be viewed as harder or harsher than the other genders lives.

Pain isn't so easy to quantify. Yes, we have ways of categorizing it that are generally accurate. But it can still differ from person to person. One persons most traumatic event can be another's daily annoyance.

The men who say they have a harsher hand dealt in life than women are mostly complaining about not having what they consider “privilege” that women have, even though it’s something most women actively reject. Specifically they want to be hypersexualized like women, they value sex so highly and a woman has a much easier time finding a partner for a meaningless one night stand than a man does on average. They don’t realize this is actively feeding the problem women have with being so hypersexualized in the first place. Women don’t want to be sex idols, they just want to be women.

Nah I think being dealt a hard life has more to do with the environment someone is born into and their upbringing rather than gender

I voted yes because current society is geared up to brainwash boys into believing and doing things that will get him into trouble and end up being way less confident, ambitious, and masculine than his ancestors. But if he has the right teacher then it's different.

I also agree with the poster who pointed out that men are held accountable for what they do while women (usually) are not. This is a problem if you think the legal system should be just. The people pushing to make society less like what our ancestors have can't make up their minds on whether women are "equal" or "only equal when it benefits her"

Nope, not at all. If anything people in the same social demographic are pretty much dealt the same cards, just some fuck up the hand they are dealt and then blame the cards, how the deck was fixed. I am 100% happy I’m a guy, I would never want to have been a girl. Guys do tend to dig their own holes and then fall in them, these days it seems to be as guys are at school age, they are spending time in gangs and girls are spending time learning. The same guys then complain things are stacked against them…

Back to those holes we dig, girls do the same thing, then can dig their own holes and fall in, the difference is, a girl walking past will help her out, a guy walking past another guy stuck in a hole will walk on muttering ‘his own fault’ and not help.

I voted yes, but I wouldn't say harsher per say.. Like Anon alluded to, it's basically that men's problems are more pushed aside and ignored and women's are lift up..
