Is it true that most people are good people with good intentions but you may come across bad people with bad intentions from time to time?

This is true overall but people who grow up in areas where the culture has poor morals and values wouldn't think so. While being poor doesn't necessarily mean that you or your family have low morals, at the neighborhood level, poverty is closely associated with lower morals, whether that's a poor rural town in Appalachia or the south side of Chicago. And folks who are poor tend to have limited mobility - traveling and relocation costs money - so they are often stuck in their neighborhood where nearly everyone they know has low morals and they've never known anything else. I can understand why some people wouldn't think that most people are generally good when they have rarely if ever seen that in person.

It's also true that we all have the capacity to do bad things and hurt people, and we all occasionally do. Even the best people are still human and have weaknesses. But a couple of relatively minor slips over time doesn't make someone bad.

I think most people aren't willing to take the risk of doing something bad, but if they could, they would. I think few people have integrity, few people are carelessly bad, and the other 90% are just opportunists. Selfish. Self-serving. Avoiding conflict. Avoiding punishment.

You’re right. I look at it like too many people look at life from a very dark perspective when in reality life is filled with more good than bad and society purposely just pushes out the bad while keeping hidden the full truth. The full truth is usually good. I say all that to say, can people have bad intentions? Absolutely. Every blue moon that person may enter your life with those bad intentions and the most that will happen is you will learn from that and be so guarded that you won’t even allow that to happen again because you’ll be aware of the red flags and signs that pointed toward their bad intentions in the beginning that you chose to ignore and block out. You won’t likely come across another bad person with those bad intentions because again because you’re aware of those people and as I said those kind of people come once a while not often. Good things happen more than bad things happen. That’s why when bad things happens we hyper focus on it and suddenly forget all the good that occurred before, during and even after that bad thing occurred. We’re not use to life making that sudden twist. We focus on our straight and narrow paths until something knocks us off of it but even then we can always find our back. Most people mean you will but your past will make you believe the opposite. That most people are bad, with bad and manipulative intentions and that the world is against them and out to get them. When in actuality we’re are all just small fractures of everyone else’s reality and problems and most of the time other people’s problems are bigger than ours.
