Some kitties are in need of love...

u 1 yI have taken in at least 100 kittens over the past 35 years. I have gathered the litters of feral cats, cleaned the kittens, cured their respiratory illnesses, gotten rid of their fleas, gotten them accustomed to being handled by humans, and then found them homes.
My profile picture is Uncle Thunder, the cat who lived here when I moved in six years ago. He runs free during the day and comes in at night, in bad weather, and to eat. He is a world-class mouser!

1 yIf by rescue you mean got out of a shelter then only one, if by actually rescue it's also one cat that was abandoned and left on a shopping cart, also a rabbit someone abandoned on grass, It got soaked by sprinklers and it was shaking, they just left it there with some carrots so we warmed it up and kept it for a few days and on offerup we found a family willing to keep it, the family had a little girl that was happy to see it so I'm confident it went to a good home, and a baby bird that we found with a head injury, we disinfected it and covered it's head with some cotton and it seemed to be fine before giving it to a shelter where they removed the cotton and it died.

1 yYes. We tend to have 2-three cats as they come to me to heal as a litter when dumped ill and need treatment, I volunteer to make them well. Then the bond forms and they end up staying. This has happened three times over since I was.. 16ish. The second group were so ill we didn't think would make it. Two of the three are still with me and nearing their 19th birthdays. Oop. And one is asking for lunch.

1 ySome people are just cruel to animals. They can even set them on fire, or cut off limbs, and certainly beat them half - or all the way - to death. It is really sad and your heart aches for them in their pain.

1 yMy cat Merlin lived in the woods behind my house. She was feral, and I would leave out food and water. Whenever I extended my hand to pet her, she would bolt. One of the specialist days of my life was when she let me pet her head.

1 yMy cousin had given a lot of stray cats food that were hungry also one time my Dad rescued a dog that was part golden retriever/ boxer and her name was Goldie, and she lived for 8 years until she passed, but she was a loving dog who would protect us and was a good watch dog.

1 yI only get strays, they're better at controlling rodents. I want them semi wild so they're OK living outside finding their own food and shelter but tame enough that I can inspect without getting my face clawed off.

1 yno. i love cats. cats are cute. but cats are an invasive species that make a lot of other species go extinct and i think we'd be better off not having more of them.
14 Reply- 1 y
It's true. They are little extinction machines. They are dangerous to native wildlife.

1 yI don't do cats.

They smell, I'm allergic to them, they're incredibly unpredictable, they think everything you own is their personal scratching post, including your legs, I put too much money into my record collection to let some pinhead scratch the shit out of them! They throw their shit all over the house, they play around in that box and then jump up on your kitchen counters and tables with their filthy feet. No thanks!!
