I believe an abusive marriage isn’t just hitting or screaming, but involves any marriage where the person does not try to make you happy. If somebody does not buy you pharmacy medication when you get sick because they are lazy, they are abusing you. If somebody does not verbally affirm or encourage you and make you feel cherished, they are abusing you. If somebody does not try to meet your standard while demanding you meet theirs and they do not have a good excuse for not trying, they are abusing you.

I've become increasingly disdainful of what I consider to be "sloppy" behavior. Examples of what I consider "sloppy" would be a serial dater (bounces from relationship to relationship), someone who regularly abuses (ABUSES, mind you, not simply uses) alcohol and drugs, someone who has opinions about things they don't research or know anything about. A protestor who becomes a rioter... stuff like that.

Basically, a sloppy person is anyone I perceive to be acting in a way that sort of neglects the purpose of trying to do things well. It's not that I have a problem with the thing they're doing so much as that they aren't doing it well.

Off the top of my head, I'd say the only ones that have universally gotten stronger with time are that euphemisms are evil and that the world needs more garlic bread.

I don't know, I guess that in general experience makes you wise up and understand the world way better. That understanding crystalizes into some sort of philosophical system you then use to sort and address everything... I don't think it's so much about a belief intensifying as it is a system of thought to process and deal with the world, the day-to-day stuff... all of it.
