If you are considered a conventionally attractive man or woman, yes people often are more likely to regard you in a better way, but especially if you are a woman. Which, women know this and it's how they get away with a lot, and even how they get ahead. Men don't help it either because most men are not smart when it comes to physical attraction and they will fall all over themselves trying to please or favor a woman with a pretty face or nice body. Women take advantage of this, and then men get upset when women use this advantage against them.

People got different resources at birth. Some have good looks, some people some smart, some have beautiful voice, some got talent for art, etc.. People are not same/equal so their treatment is different. The idea that people are completely equal is false. This is a false "invention" of french revolution.
This is also a problem with democracy, where two drunk boors have more decisive than professor at university. - 1 y

@_piotr People's different attributes is not a reason to favor one over the other or treat others like shit. We are all different for variety. Pretty faces do not - and not even most of the time - equal value in character or worth. It's just an attribute. It doesn't say anything about a person's true inner value.

What you are writing is just anger fuelled by jealousy and envy of people who received more at birth. Your attitude creates just pretentious, angry people.
I will never be as beautiful as some models, smart as Einstein, or musically talented like Mozart but I do not go around telling everybody how unfortunate that is that everyone are not as same level as me. I do not expect people to treat me as king of England given by God's grace, because I wasn't born as heir to the throne.
"People's different attributes..." It is a reason to an extend. I do not expect universities to praise mentally challenged people, audience to treat bad artists just as good as musical genius. Or experts of literature treat delusional scribbler as a great poet.
These attributes are values you want it or not. While good character is more valuable it doesn't render rest of attributes compleatly obsolete. Good looks is value.
It is also shallow to deliberately ignore certain aspects of human. So also "shallow" are people who say body (which is half of human being) is not important. The same goes for other things.
Nobody should treat others like shit, we have all basic dignity of being human but you are overboard with this. - 1 y

(Bear with me here, imma geek out a bit… again.)
On school of thought is that “The squeaky wheel gets the grease.” —> That the whining, needy, troublesome person will get the most attention (over those who seem capable and independent). This is usually very true… A top student may get a touch of validation from the teacher, but the troublesome student is the one who is constantly getting the teacher to stop and pay attention, to spend extra time to address their problem, to find on and off campus resources, etc etc etc.
The other school of thought is that those who are capable of doing for themselves will earn the respect and favor of others as a matter of fact. —> This is closer to the philosophy followed by folks like Alexander the Great and Cleopatra. Their capable, charismatic appeal gets them what they want, with rather remarkable outcomes.20 Reply

1 yYes, and we can try an experiment to prove it.
Picture this scenario:-
You have a successful company that employs 50 people. One day you decide you need to hire a new member of staff so you conduct interviews. Of all the interviewees you find 2 candidates of equal intelligence, and equally suited to the job. They have both shown references to be of good character and punctual time keeping.
So now it comes down to dress sense and the vibe you you get from their 'look.'
Which one would you employ?

1 yYes, I am beginning to believe it's true. I don't think I'm pretty (I'd say average), but people usually treat me well. I just stay fit, maintain my hair and skin and choose quality clothes. On the flip side, some of my older friends get treated poorly even though they are great people. But when I am with them, it doesn't happen. So ridiculous and shallow. I suppose all of us are shallow to an extent though. We don't date certain people due to looks, so I suppose I can't criticize it.

1 yMy brother in law was just saying he gets tipped better when he keeps his electric car waxed to a pristine shine. He drives Lyft as an evening job for a little extra.
It's universally true. You put in effort to look good yourself or make something look good and you and or it is treated better.
I always wipe my engine off before taking it in for a service I am not doing myself. They see a clean engine and I know they will take better care of my truck.10 Reply 550 opinions shared on Other topic. Yes, it does happen and virtually everybody does it to various degrees. There's a lot of things that goes into looking good aside from genetics. If you take the same person and see how they are treated when they are clean and well kept versus how they are treated when they are dirty and raggedy looking, they will still be perceived as better looking in the former and treated better.

1 yAt a fundamental level, Behavioral Psychologists found even newborn infants show preference to culturally-preferred appearances. They coo and smile more readily to 'court' positive reciprocal favored attention. Being 'cute' hence 'desirable' ... imparts preferential survival opportunities. Consider what being 'hot' aka 'sexy' actually means! "Soliciting preferential tactile arousal for neurological chemistry". ~

1 yWell now ,” looking better” , that’s from the eye of the beholder right ? And thinking that someone is good looking doesn’t always mean that they are universally regarded as being good looking ! .
Generally though id say yes , people do get treated better if they are regarded as being good looking … to a point but beauty is only skin deep !00 ReplyKinda but its more like subconscious.
If someone really handsome or attractive smiles at you, it will feel better for your ego than if someone very unattractive smiles at you "creeply" as example.
you're prone to be more nice and mindfull to something you find cute or beautiful than something that isn't.00 Reply330 opinions shared on Other topic.

1 yYes its a fact, you will see it first hand if you have a sibling who is better looking then you. The way people are to good looking people is very evident, almost unfairly so.

1 yimage is key to how the world see's you and set's how people react to your presents and thus treatment of you, do you get treated differently according to how your dressed and groomed from casual to formal, from worn out but comfortable clothing, little rough looking and unshaven to trendy stylish clothing, clean shaven with a good haircut. It's impacted how I've been treated from my own personal experiences and that's just my history.
00 Reply8.5K opinions shared on Other topic. Yes but life's not fair so suck it up. Everything has its pros and cons. While they get treated better most of the kindness being send their way is insincere and they tend to get treated more like a piece of meat or some object. Ashes to ashes dust to dust.

1 yYeh people always get treated better because they look better. Which is funny in a way because a lot of people that have the looks don't always have the personality to match, so while their getting treated great they're treating you like crap.
00 ReplyYes it's true. It's called pretty privilege and you can get doors opened for you, groceries paid for, and free money just by wearing a dress, having a pretty face and smiling at people

1 yFuckkkkkk yes... I can't believe 8 percent think no. We SHOULD ALL treat each other equally. But that's far from reality. A hot woman will always be treated better by all. And a hot man honestly will be treated better as well. It's just life.
