Headphones or no headphones?

When you're out taking a stroll or running your errands (e. g., laundry, etc.), do you wear your headphones/airpods to listen to music and take calls? Why or why not?

(Personally, I won't wear them if I'm operating a vehicle, for example, bc I need to listen for traffic, but at the store or just walking around I usually sport them at low vol just to be in a good mood and to be able to take a call and chat while walking around or running errands.)

Wow... so for those who can't the poll details... MOST of the guys who took the poll indicated they just never wear headphones, meanwhile the girls are a 50/50 split.

I never understand people who walk around with their friends and have one airpod in their ear. What are they listening to? Their own music while they're out socializing? That's so anti-social and weird to me. You're out with friends, just be present and in the moment with them, not your stupid gay ass airpod.

Oh... no, those are usually kids who keep one in in case their phone rings. They're not usually listening to friends and also music.

I agree. When with friends don't do it. But i have seen kids sharing earbuds so that they can both listen to the same song. I think it's unsanitary

Nah I never use my phone when I go out, even for texting. The only time I would use it is if I was super bored waiting somewhere like in a doctors office, building waiting room or sitting at work. If I am walking, shopping or hanging out with someone I never use my phone. I don't take calls I just ignore them when I'm out and listen to music on the car radio. My phone is pretty useless to me unless I am super bored or have someone I like talking to on it.

My last boyfriend used to wear his ear buds listening to hard rock music 🎶.
I tried to tell him he does that too much but of course he didn't listen. I told him he was going to lose his hearing and just months before he died he couldn't hardly hear anymore. 🤷🏼‍♀️

My mom used to tell me the same thing b/c I started using a walkman, but the headphones back in the 80s were so cheap... still I kept the volume on 1/2... Still do now that we have airpods and such.

@TonyMetal___86 Meh... I kept the volume to 1 or 2 most of the time anyway bc I was worried that she was right. If I was feeling rebellious I would crank it up to 3 or 4 (out of 10). So I think I'm ok.

If I'm out for a walk, I don't have anything with me. If I'm in the car I might listen to a CD, or possibly the radio over the speakers. At home, I listen to a real stereo with speakers, or the computer through speakers. Anywhere else, I don't have anything with me to listen to.

I used to listen to CDs at work through headphones. But haven't used them since I quit working.

Earphones pretty much 99% of the time. If I go for a hike and I've forgotten my earphones and there's not too many people that walk the trail, I might take my phone out and play some tunes, but I usually just listen to nature and take in my surroundings.

Depending on the area, if I’m in an area that seems sketchy I won’t have any headphones at all and will keep my head on a swivel

I'll wear my ipods for my workouts and cycling but not in the car or walking around town. I sometimes wear them while I am splitting wood too, just to pass the time.

I used to when I walked my dog, and still do when I walk her alone, but generally I don't because I am with my girlfriend. I also prefer to use them when I am on the phone.
Neither me nor my girlfriend like holding the phone while talking, so she uses speakerphone and I use ear buds.

I wear them fairly often if I'm listening to something. Usually that's if I'm working or doing chores. I have a ton of YouTube playlists I'm trying to clear out 😬

Oh Spartan My Spartan... Yeah, situational awareness... I heard you... and appreciate everything you said... and thought about it at least twice just today... I know when to keep them in my purse for safety and when it's ok to keep them on and listen to some tunes to break up the stress of the day... Music is just the way I cope with all the lug nuts around me.

Yeah, I can't wear them while I'm driving or biking, for instance. But if I'm just walking or lugging groceries around it's way easier to take a call without breaking stride.

I used to wear corded on the ear headphones but have switched to iPods. I usually wear them while waiting like in drs offices etc

Mine went up to 75. But it would blow the safety at 60-63 unless I had a fan on it. I blew it up, and it won't stay on now. I guess about 5-6 weeks ago. Listening to Dream On for about 15-20 times in a row. I cranked it to 63, and on the real high note, boom. That's my ptsd song. I'm speaking of my Kenwood I bought in July 1997. With Amp/equ. I miss it.
