affectionately known as Nessie, Loch Ness is a mythical creature in Scottish folklore that is said to inhabit Loch Ness in the Scottish Highlands. It is often described as large, long-necked, and with one or more humps protruding from the water. Popular interest and belief in the creature has varied since it was brought to worldwide attention in 1933. Evidence of its existence is anecdotal with a number of disputed photographs and sonar readings.

Mythical creatures are a common staple. Dragons exist in myths all over the world but that doesn't mean they ever existed. It more indicates a very ancient myth that has traveled the world.

It is possible to track changes in myths over time and potentially identify core parts that are unchanged and are probably original. YT Crecganford talks about this and analyzes some myths.

I suspect Nessie is probably a dragon myth but this is just my ignorant superficial take. It is way above my pay grade.

No that black and white picture you added at the top, is a renowned fake! Before he died, the photographer admitted that the “thing” in the picture was a small model he made, and photographed it in a way that removed all perspective as to size or distance.

though when i was a kid i did. my mom bought me a kids book on nessie, and it made it look all cute and friendly. that made me want to go to scotland to try to see if i could talk to it lmao

The earliest report of the Loch Ness monster appears in the Life of St. Columba by Adomnán, written in the 7th century AD.

If there were no other members of the monster's species at the time, it could not reproduce, so it was probably extinct.

I presume it was some sort of Elasmosaurus, or some similar animal.

I think enough evidence has come in that I can claim it doesn’t exist. Especially when the hoax was definitely real.

Of course other claims, like god, can’t be proven or disprove, so we have to say I don't know.
