Nostalgia, like any feelings, can be both constructive and destructive.
The constructive side is a formula for hope: if things were this great when I was younger, what’s to say this bad moment in time won’t get better to a standard such as that?
The destructive side is that you become so entrenched in your memories that you not only view the world around you as significantly worse, but you find yourself constantly reliving memories in an attempt to turn back the clock and put your life on hold.
All of it depends on just how healthy the individual mind is.
