When men have depression vs when women have depression, which is cared about more?

I care for a lot of people with a diagnosis of Major Depression, both men and women. I worry about them equally for different reasons:

Women are more likely to make more frequent gestures and attempts so the overall exposure is greater, but the attempts tend to be less lethal than those of men with less lethal means. This is NOT a reason to not worry.

Men tend to make more lethal but less frequent attempts. This too is NOT a reason to not worry.

Don't try to assess suicide risk on your own unless you are highly trained and experienced. Instead call 988 in the US and speak to a trained and qualified professional. Here is the website:

Both because depression is a serious mental health illness. Men’s mental health matters which is why there were ads on YouTube & commercials on TV for years advocating for men to go get diagnosed and get the help they need while I never saw one Woman ad/commercial.

It depends on whether or not they seek help for it, and men usually elect not to for fear of being seen as weak or unmanly.
