Not including housing, I can live on $500 a month, probably less.

Where? Anywhere in the US. Housing is by far the biggest difference in cost of living, so without housing, there is not a huge difference.

i'm currently living off that and i'm actually paying rent from that as well xD and i can live with that quite easily. even saving some money and basically not thinking about money when i go grocery shopping. just expensive shit like phones or computers or car repairs are things i gotta safe up for.

Depends on location. My rent is $1450 and my half is $725 so I could live off of that especially if rent is already covered. Other bills are phone and utilities which equal to about $300 a month, $150 for mine (technically a little less). I would be left with nearly $800 after car insurance, payment and bills are taken out and that doesn’t include fuel or groceries but still doable. Is that $2k before or after taxes

Yeah easily if housing costs are not included since it’s just me because housing costs are over $3,000 a month not including utilities

My utilities insurance taxes etc all around $900 a month. Then health insurance... Not much left to eat... Groceries would have to be circa $600.

I’m not talking about taxes, that’s included with the mortgage same as the insurance, and health insurance is covered by my job. Food and utilities would be the only things I would need to pay for if housing costs were paid for , maybe gas and car insurance but that’s it, food is more than utilities a month unfortunately these days

Taxes and mortgages are not included in the mortgage. When it's paid off you pay county tax separately and insurance separately. And yeah food is getting insanely high.

Yeah I understand that but if you are just renting, you’re not paying taxes and insurance because it’s all included so you have to look at it that way, because in your question you said free rent or mortgage and most mortgages are including the escrow amount of taxes and insurance so I naturally assumed you meant the whole thing. Only once I had a house where I paid my taxes and insurance separately , only people who own their house outright just pay the taxes and insurance
