I'm on a quest to find somewhere that sells fresh water chestnuts (everyone tells me "fresh is SOOO much better than canned!", which I can believe, but freaking NO ONE sells them! I can buy durian easily, but not water chestnuts!), and I've visited a number of Asian grocery stores, since they're suggested as the best candidates. These places frequently cater to expats and their kids, and every single time, I find at least one person (usually two or three) who can't reach something on a high shelf. I, being 6'2", offer to help, and they're always grateful, but it seems like an odd choice to do something like that with that kind of customer base.
It naturally makes me wonder if the shelves are shorter over there, since the people tend to be, to.
