I've been changing tires, and much more, since I was a teenager, yes.
I also worked as a mechanic for several years, so simple auto repair/maintenance is no big deal for me, and I think everyone should know how to change their own tires.

Yes, and I have changed a tire. Not in several years, though. I guess tires are much better than they used to be. Last tire I changed was on my car when I somehow got a nail in the sidewall, probably when driving through a construction area. It took about 10 minutes to change it with the spare.

If I absolutely have to, I think I could but I wouldn't trust to drive it very far. I'm not sure I'd have the nuts on tight enough.

  When I was a little, my dad and I were walking down a sidewalk and a tire came off a car and my dad was able to throw me out of the way but he got hit by it. It put him against a mailbox. He ended up getting a gash on the back of his head that needed stitches and he was sore for a few days but luckily was pretty much fine. That's one reason I wouldn't trust myself to change one lol

  A good way to tighten them is after you have put the spare tire on the wheel, you hand tighten each lug nut, then put the lug wrench on it, lean on the car, and with one foot on the ground, place the other on the lug wrench and put your weight on it - slowly. That tightens it a lot. BE CAREFUL not to fall!

  This is also a way to loosen the nuts - just place the wrench such that when you step on it it will rotate counter-clockwise. Again - being careful please!

  @msc545 A funny story. When I was in high school, a friend of mine was an hour late because she had a flat in her driveway and was the only one home. She was telling me that she jacked the car just enough to take the tire off but couldn't figure out why the wheel kept spinning when she was trying to take the nuts off 🤦 Her neighbor saw her struggling and finally changed it for her. She would have been there all day! lol

yes defiantly, grew up changing tires, worked at a gas station in high school and changing tires was part of the job. I carry a special breaker bar and lug nuts socket kit in my truck for doing tire changes when needed.

I can change wheels with tires on them. But not with one of those shitty scissors jacks. I don't have the equipment to mount a tire. I can also change brake pads.

I have done the changes between summer and winter tires myself almost every year. Only when they needed replacement, I let the tire shop do everything.

It is quite simple. Just make sure the car is on level ground and the jack isn't going to move.
