Can you call a police if someone is filming your property acting suspicious and hanging around outside your house and won't leave?

Of course you can. That doesn't mean they'll respond, but if it's in the U. S. it's highly likely they will. Some paranoid asshole called the cops on one of our classes one year, 'cuz they were taking pictures of his house for a class that was studying architectural styles. They had some robberies earlier, but still. I can't believe people bother police with such things, when it's something they can literally just deal with themselves. We've had people taking pictures and loitering around our property, we didn't call the police, we just went outside and asked them what they were doing. One group turned out to be fire fighters taking pictures of fire hazards.

Though technically, if your house is on a public street, they're allowed to film and take pictures of it. How are they "acting suspicious"? In some places it's common to sit on someone's curb or driveway.

I don't know, what to tell you. Maybe talk to the neighbors about it. Is it a frequent occurrence? I understand how it can be scary if you're a girl by yourself, but I think it's quite silly to call the police on someone who's just filming and hanging out. Maybe it's creepy, but it's not illegal, unless they're filming into your house. I would try to talk to them first, before calling the police.

If they are on your property and they won't leave, that's trespassing. Worse comes to worse, after telling the trespasser to leave, if they don't, then shoot the trespasser. Have a friendly witness see the whole thing so as to state in court the fear you felt from the trespasser.

If they’re on your property you can, but if they’re on the street or sidewalk outside of it, no. But definitely film them in return, just in case.
